We all know how important can be to have priorities in life. How to choose and live by them is as important as having them. Let’s create valuable priorities and focus on them to build a happy and healthy life.
Have you asked yourself what is the main priority in your life? Is it family, work, travelling, or self-development? Does your main priority, or I should say main priorities bring value to your life? Sometimes we are driven by life’s currents, and we lose track. It is of utmost importance to learn to be guided by them, but at the same time, we have to choose wisely the currents that guide us to the life that we wish to live.
When currents are coming along the way, we have to follow those that will move us forward rather than those that keep us stuck. How can we do that?
We all know that surfing is a sport practised on water. Water is flowing and one needs to find the perfect equilibrium to be able to do it. A surfer can practice his/her sport when the air currents are present, otherwise, he can’t enjoy the movement. The surfer always chooses the most favourable environment with strong air currents so he can move forward, but he always focuses on those air currents and he continually adapts the body position that will help him move forward.
The same is with our priorities. When we set our priorities, we are driven by them, and we explore them daily. Even though we have them, sometimes life’s currents change our focus and lead us somewhere where we do not wish to be or feel uncomfortable. How can we keep our balance and see the distinction between the life currents that can help us move forward and those that can keep us on hold?
I believe that we always need to listen to our inner voice when choosing our priorities list. Write down your priorities every morning if you can. Did you know that the brain integrates things better when we put pen on paper rather than writing on a computer or our smartphones? Some of the best writers always write their scripts by hand rather than in digital format. Curiously enough all those digital formats end up in books on the library's shelf.
The same is with our priorities. First, we need to set our minds on them, write them down, integrate them and then start to build on them. This is how we can best focus on what we need to keep and what to leave behind.
Whenever you lose track of what is important to you, take your handwritten list, and see if your priorities add value to your life. If they do, keep the momentum going and build on that daily. If not, take some time to reflect and rewrite your priorities list and start again. Sometimes the priorities we choose are not fitted to our life journey even if at first we think they do.
At the end of the day, what truly matters is not how many of your priorities were met during the day, but how many you followed to add value to your life. And, remember, you can always choose your priorities according to what you think your life's purpose is.
The answers you seek are always within. Every day is unique so are your priorities. You will always feel fulfilled if you find that needed flexibility that will allow you to do things differently. If you take the same route when you go in nature every day, try to take a different one the following day. You might be surprised by what you might discover.
We are so used to doing things the same way every single day. Having a routine is healthy indeed, but doing that routine differently some days will give you new perspectives on things. Change is always to be welcomed because it can enrich our lives in an unexpectedly pleasant way. So, if your focus is lost on your priorities some of the time it means that you need to reassess them and reconstruct your plan. Take moments of relaxation during your day and lower your speed. We can always reflect better on things when we are rested.
When you design your life by choosing priorities that speak to your heart, you will observe that you’ll have flow and focus in all that you do.
We are creative beings and we have brilliant minds that serve us well if we attend to them. Your mind and your body are interconnected. Always help yourself move forward along the life currents, choosing your path well. Put aside the doubt that sometimes appears in your mind and reason with it. When you question it and listen to it you will know what your health priorities are. Always choose quality over quantity to have a happy and fulfilled life.
Try to always build your priorities with the thought in mind that your life is what you create.
You always have to choose what is within you. Know that all is WITHIN the man.
