Having an ideal life is kind of difficult to live in the reality that we are living in. It may sound discouraging, but it is kind of true. Maybe some people have the privilege to live it, but do you live your own ideal life? Is it possible to live in this world carefree and have all that this world pictures as ideal? Are you able to live your ideal life with all society's rules and its print?
Maybe some people might have an ideal life, but how can this be defined? For many of us, the ideal life is the equation of having a family, children, friends, community and an environment where we can nurture ourselves and live beautifully in harmony. This sounds like the best definition of the ideal life.
Have you questioned yourself about what ideal life means to you? What is ideal to have? Maybe for most people is what I stated above, but I think each of us should have our definition and try to live by it.
We all long to have ideal lives, ideal jobs, and ideal private lives. To reach an ideal life, we first have to look at reality. Does the reality that you are in lead you toward living your ideal life? Take one moment and reflect upon this. Most of the things that we want to buy or want to have do not meet our "high expectations" once we have them.
Everything you are invited to buy or own promises that your life will change for the better, or that your skin will improve and glow like never before. If you eat a certain type of diet your health will improve dramatically. We are told that if we live by certain societal rules, we’ll live the ideal life. If we reflect deeply on this matter, none of it, or I should say most of them offer something different.
We are taught to trust more in what comes from the outside and less in ourselves. How can we not trust ourselves and choose the things that matter to us? How can we not invest in ourselves using our innate wisdom, and our trust?
If you had the option today to start building your own ideal life without following the norm of a general definition of what an ideal life might be, would you start building it? Reality shows us that probably the ideal life is hard to find, but I believe that we can make our own ideal life regardless of the society that we are living in.
And all starts with our priorities, with things that matter to us, things that help us build ourselves up from the ground and make us live the best ideal life. The ideal life defined by others is surely not our own. Each of us is unique and has our unique ideal. This is the beauty of living our version of the ideal life.
Set up your priorities in a way that builds you as the person you wish to be and the ideal life that you wish to live. Try to put them into practice every day.
The number one priority is YOU. You matter! You are a human being with emotions and feelings, and most of the time you feel that life can be difficult to live in the rhythm that was chosen for you by external factors. Slow down and look at your life and ask yourself if the way you live is the way you wish to live all your life. If you are not happy with the way you live your ideal life try to change it. Make adjustments where you need to and commit yourself to them. Try to prioritize them every single day.
The second priority is what you truly love to do. If you do not do what you love every single day, you will gently be led toward frustration, overwhelm and burnout. You have to refuel yourself with things that you love to do, things that matter to you and bring value to your "ideal life".
The third priority is what nurtures you to feel content and full of joy. Take time to spend more time with your loved ones, your family, and your friends. Being with them gives you a sense of belonging and trust. Try to connect on a deeper level and leave aside all that can interfere with your present experience. Try to live it and enjoy it as much as you can.
Try to put aside things that might "steal" the time to build your own ideal life, like social media, and the perfect stories that show their version of the ideal life and not yours. Focus on doing things that build the life that you always dreamed of living. Try to take a stand and never compare yourself with others. What is ideal for them will never be ideal for you. If you feel tired in searching for your ideal life and feel that you are unable to reach it, take a pause and reflect. Permit yourself to just live your version of an ideal day without any definitions from the outer world.
Identify what matters to you and build your ideal life towards it. Always keep hope in your heart and know that even if you can’t reach your ideal life, you are getting there. Your ideal life can change from one season of your life to another, and it is okay. This means that you are growing and evolving, and you reach the season of your life that you wish to be in. Every season teaches us what we need to know to reach the next level of our definition of the ideal life.
Our human identity is always in search of needs and wants to continue its journey. And the ideal is what helps us reach our destination.
I think of Victor Hugo’s words: "The human soul has still greater need of the ideal than the real. It is by the real that we exist; it is by the ideal that we live" and conclude that we need both real and ideal to make the most of our life journey.
